  1. What is Sortes?

The Centralisation Problem

Traditional lottery and charitable systems face significant challenges:

  • Centralized control: Funds and prize distributions are managed by a single authority, which may lead to corruption, inefficiencies, and high operational costs.

  • Lack of transparency: Participants often have little insight into how funds are allocated or how prizes are determined.

  • High fees and taxes: Conventional models typically incur high operational expenses that reduce the funds available for public good.

Sortes addresses these issues by:

  • Eliminating intermediaries: All transactions and prize determinations occur on-chain.

  • Ensuring transparency: Every process is verifiable by the community, minimizing the potential for misuse.

  • Lowering costs: The decentralized approach reduces overhead, allowing a higher percentage of revenue to support charitable causes.
